Hello

Treat yourself to a massage in my cozy home studio located in the 7th Ward of New Orleans. Minutes away from the French Quarter and Marigny / Bywater neighborhoods.

I'm a New Orleans native with a background in Sociology, Theatre, and Film. I guess you could say, I'm a professional people-person.

I pride myself on not playing spa music and just following your lead. If you prefer a quiet session with zero talking, great! If you have a specific music genre request, not a problem. I have done full sessions to bounce music because people relax in different ways so just let me know!

FAQs

What is that structure I saw out front?

When you visit BodyWerk by Naj, you'll notice a community fridge (The 7th Ward Triangle) with a mural by local black artist, Yoko. $5 from every massage goes towards filling that fridge for our neighbors, both housed and otherwise, to take as needed. I encourage you to bring a few items of your own to place in the fridge before your session or in your free time. All homemade items should be labeled for allergies and the date it was made but you can never go wrong with bottled water and kitchen staples like bread, milk, and cheese.

Do you live in your spa?

YES! This is my home. I don't feel comfortable in traditional spa settings; they feel like a medical office to me. I want my clients to feel at home when they walk in. I space out appointments so you never feel rushed out the door and can settle into the relaxation.

Why did I only get 50mins of work during my 60min massage?

Your service time includes a legally required intake interview. It can be 2mins or 10mins but it depends on the individual. This is the time for me to get to know you and discuss any potential medical issues that could prevent me from being able to work on you or just to find out more about what brings you in. If you would like more hands on time, I always recommend the 90min & 2hr sessions. We still do the required interview but you won't feel like you've missed out on anything. My clients mean more to me than the dollar amount they're paying so very often I'll find myself going over time by a few minutes anyway. I'll take care of you.

Can I get a refund?

All sales are final. I require full payment upon booking because no one wants to be fumbling around with money after a massage. In EXTREMELY rare circumstances, I will make an exception but do not book if you are uneasy about this policy. If you purchase gift cards for loved ones (or yourself), they do not expire (as long as we are in operation) and can be transferred to others; just communicate with me so I can update it for you but otherwise, these will also NOT be refunded.

There's a lot of traffic, can I cancel?

The cancellation policy is very simple and I'm more than reasonable because I understand that things happen. If you need to cancel/reschedule, simply shoot me a text as soon as you know you won't make it. Preferably 24+ hours before but no less than 6 hours before your session so I can plan accordingly. No call/No shows will not be allowed to reschedule but you're more than welcome to schedule a new appointment when it's convenient for you.

I'm feeling self-conscious about (XYZ)...

My space is always judgement free. Scars, hairy legs, secret tattoos, insecurities, and even PTSD. I've seen it all. I welcome it all. My massage table is a space for you to just be. Cry, laugh, snore. Everyone heals differently. You are beautiful, you have purpose, your feelings are valid. Come as you are.

Should I tip?

I am a one-woman show so while tips are never expected they are always appreciated. However, the best way to show your appreciation is by booking your next appointment within 2-4wks.

Do you work on children?

Yes! Children aged 5-17 make wonderful clients and you're welcome to watch, ask questions, and maybe even learn some techniques. While it is up to you, I suggest that children under 15 opt for shorter sessions. I can't imagine a 7yo sitting still for and enjoying a 2hr session. But whether you have a little insomniac or a junior elite athlete in your care, I'd be happy to work with them of muscle relief, tension, or relaxation.

If I'm early can we get started early?

I require at least 45 mins between sessions to properly sanitize, ground myself, and prep for your arrival. In very rare situations I may be working with previous client until 10-15 mins before your session so I ask that you arrive no more than 5mins before your scheduled appointment as I may not be ready or able to receive you. If there are cancellations prior to your appointment, I may offer you those spots but typically, your scheduled time is all I have to offer.

Can my friend/partner/child wait for me during the session?

I think massages are very personal and most effective when you can let go of the outside world and focus on your mental and physical healing. I do, however, have clients who are working through anxiety / trauma and prefer a support system with them. In these situations, your guest is welcome to sit in the next room where you can still chat through the curtains. If you must bring your minor children with you, I do ask that they are able to sit by themselves for the most part so that you can enjoy your session. I typically keep basic sensory items available for toddlers and snacks for older kids but just communicate with me and we'll make it a pleasant experience for all.

If you still have questions, feel free to email and I'll get to you as soon as I can!
